2009-6 June 28

Minutes of the Deer Creek Homeowners Association of Livonia Board of Directors
Held at Dave Wood’s house June 28, 2009
Approved 8-20-09

Present: Denny Behrendsen, Bob Moore, Dave Wood, Brian Gulick, and Diane Tsaprazis (5).

Website: Denny and Dave are working on getting the Deed Restrictions to Ansaf Alrabady in a proper format.

Minutes: The minutes of 5-31-09 were read by Diane and approved with a few changes.

Treasurer’s Report: Dave presented a 6-28-09 report showing 159 paid homeowners, with 1more just received. Including $525 in donations and a beginning balance of $1,294.19, our total income is $13,744.19. The water bills have not yet been received. Island 7 submitted a request for $102 for two red pots, which we agreed to pay. Island 7 also submitted a request to pay for an $86 tree; we will hold off on a decision until we receive the island water bills. Our annual filing fee will arrive soon and be due at the end of the summer. Our projects are complete. An extra $540 was spent to pull out the pachysandra and install sod at the 8 Mile entrances. We noted that we paid the $500 request for additional work done on Island 5.

Landscaping: Denny reported:
- Uncle Froggy’s Landscaping (UF) completed all the 2009 project work.
- Walt is getting more information on the Bicentennial Park entrance. We may trim the shrubs ourselves.
- For Island 7, UF did the extra removal work and we paid. The homeowners installed 1 tree and 2 red pots with impatiens.
- We need to make our Maintenance requests clear if we contract it out.
- Island 1 has a dead boxwood; Walt is working with UF.
- 8 Mile Island needs some clean-up. Walt said UF did what we contracted them to do. The shrub roses need to be pruned. Dave will speak with Walt and then UF.
- Diane will send the telephone number of her recent landscaper to Walt and Dave for additional estimates on work for next year.

Lights: The sign light on the west side of 8 Mile is out again – it should have lasted about 5 years. We may need to enlarge the protected area around the lights with pavers. Denny will get another high pressure sodium light bulb (it cost $21 in Dec. 2007).

Car Complaint: We will follow up.
Garage Sale: It was held the weekend of June 5th and 6th thanks to homeowner Pauline (Condon) Kehoe.

Paving & Water Pressure: Denny scheduled a meeting for 7-16-09 at 9 a.m. with Kevin Maillard, the new Director of the Livonia DPW. Dave commented on our recent low pressure. Denny keeps track at his home and recently recorded a high of 120 psi at night, 55 psi by morning, and a low of 33 psi. We will discuss variances at the meeting. Perhaps the City will help us get a water pressure meter. Dave will prepare pictures of areas needing pavement repair. The City will share their next 2 year plan, including millage for City road repair. Walt, Bob, Dave and Denny will attend the meeting.

Street Signs: Bob noted the new signs in the neighborhood on the east side of Gill. Denny suggested we ask the City about upscale signs.

Recent Home Sales: We discussed recent (declining) prices.

Next Meeting: Sunday, August 16, 2009 4 p.m. at Diane house. Topics: 1) Possibility of email newsletter; 2) Dues collection effort.
