Minutes of the Deer Creek Homeowners Association of Livonia Board of Directors Held at Diane Tsaprazis’ house May 11, 2011
Present: Denny Behrendsen, Bob Moore, Dave Wood, Connie Vokal, Walt Gerstner, and Diane Tsaprazis (6)
Minutes: Diane read the minutes from our 4-14-11 Annual Meeting. We reviewed them and made a couple of changes. They will not be approved until the 2012 Annual Meeting. Diane also read the 3-16-11 minutes from our last regular Board meeting. They were approved with no changes.
Treasurer’s Report: Dave gave us a verbal report. At the Annual Meeting, we agreed to add $500 to our budget for Consultants for Street Signs. So far this year, with $11,210 in revenue, we are $410 ahead of collections compared to last year. There are 17 homeowners that paid last year that have not yet paid this year and we have had no new payers. - Thank you letters were sent to the 10 homeowners who made donations in excess of dues. Diane wrote the letters, and Dave printed them on nice velum paper and mailed them.
Landscaping: - Perennial grasses at 8 Mile Island: Walt had them trimmed by Metro Grounds - Pansies: planted at 8 Mile Island on April 13th by Connie and Diane. 4 flats from Home Depot were a bit too many. - Annual Planting at 8 Mile: June 14, 2011 at 10 a.m. Dave and Denny will purchase the plants the prior weekend. Last year, we planted 3 flats of 4” pots containing white New Guinea impatiens and 5 flats of purple ageratum from Northville flower Market. Walt reported the Northville Flower Day is May 27th. Denny knows a vendor at that market. - Roses may need further trimming per Connie. - A homeowner owning a landscape company would like our business. Denny gave their flyer to Walt so he can contact them in the Fall to obtain a bid for the 2012/13 season.
Garage Sale: To be held Thursday June 9th through June 14th. Thank you to Pauline Kehoe for organizing the event.
Poor Exterior Maintenance: We discussed poor lawn maintenance at 3 homes. Denny will follow up with the worst problem.
Annual Meeting Signs: Somehow in the past year, we have lost one of our two signs. Denny will call a realtor to ask if she has a sign frame available. We will check on costs for new signs. Email Newsletter: Karen Wood has offered to edit. We hope she can attend our next Board meeting.
Website: A homeowner’s son who lives in Chicago may be able to help. Dave will call the homeowner. Dave said even a phone consultation would be helpful.
Next Meeting: Wednesday, June 29th at 1 p.m. at Diane’s house.
